Perspectives on Goal Setting

It’s the second weekend in January, and maybe you’re like me and already starting to struggle with the pressure of personal goals you set for the year.  Or maybe you’re at the point of feeling annoyed with the abundance of the goal-related posts, videos, blogs, advertising, emails, conversations…I hear you!  I can look back on January’s past when even the thought of setting a goal was stressful because it felt so impossible to follow through on my ambitions.  If that’s you this year (or even if you’re still feeling on top of things!), allow me to offer some perspective.  

As a naturopathic doctor, I know that setting goals has a powerful role to play in holistic wellness. So let’s not give up on goal setting completely. That said, there are ways to be strategic about it. My personal experiences, naturopathic education, and patient interactions have taught me a thing or two about how to set myself and my patients for success in goal setting. Over this next week I’ll be exploring the importance of the what, why, how, and who in goal setting. Hopefully, these upcoming posts can encourage you to set or reset some realistic goals for wellness in 2021.
